TRADITION
I cherish any opportunity to feel the music, taste the food, and understand the ideology of fellow men and women I share the planet with. The unique concern one has for his people, their culture, and their heritage is a powerful soul-filling energy. This spiritual bonding that comes from humans embracing the unique qualities of fellow humans has therapeutic value in an age of capitalism. Heritage weaves an entire society together, giving them common ground and more concern for their neighbors and community.
Real culture is something this country lacks, and it seems it will sadly never have. We are lost in a world of greed and envy, constantly moving forward without pausing to appreciate and celebrate the real beauty and power of humanity. In fact, humanity is our only true bond and it’s apparent through our actions and convictions as an industrialized civilization, we don’t even care about that.
NATURE
For me, any time “outside”, away from a man-made structure, connecting with all the variations of life is truly magical. It shouldn’t be that, we have to “get away”, it’s unfortunate, but necessary to keep perspective. Sadly, we are very good at building walls (in reality and metaphorically speaking), that segregate us from the precious phenomenon of life on this planet. Any occasion to leave the cold hearted, pompous, ignorance of most humans, to unite with the true reality of existence, is a spiritual experience for me.
With our absolute love of technology and industrialism, many humans are disturbingly eager to estrange themselves, from the true capabilities of life and humanity. With our love of money being so paramount in our lives, we are brainwashed into believing we can abuse anything, until it’s gone, then replace it, if we want to. In the animal kingdom it is absolutely normal, with their limited brain capacity, for animals to behave like animals. In human civilization however, it is extremely disturbing and abnormal, for humans to be as ignorant as animals. If we don’t have nature, we don’t have food, air, water ...or life!!! I guess then we can finally get on to the business of being robots, that way we do not need stupid things like food, air, water, emotions, and reason.
THE ARTS
The many variations of human spirit, that flow from the souls of creative individuals is magnificent, and should be constantly applauded. The arts are unique to mankind, it is what breathed color and personality into human life. Understand that art came from cave drawings, music from a drum beat, song from a chant, dance from hand and body Gestures, acting from facial expressions. From these seeds of desire to express, we created language. From language came; the words in a song, the script of an actor, verse of a poet, the speech of a politician, the thoughts of a prophet, the terms of advertising, the comedy of a comedian, and the eye to eye conversation between two people. In life seeds are planted, and roots are created to support this life. The arts are your human roots, they support you, please support them.
Men and women reasoning, communicating logic, expressing passionately and honestly from the heart, understanding reality, this is humanity. Unfortunately, everyday more and more grade schools take some kind of art class off the schedule, however a class in trigonometry, is left in, that’s insane! Creativity and expression, in many different variations, is a substantial part of entertainment for humans. As a business, it supports every second a television or radio is on the air, we call this vital part of societies economic engine, advertising. Advertising in any form, along with packaging and branding, keeps the doors open, to the businesses that make just about every product or service you use. To close this rant, most Americans are employed by a company that makes a product or service, on top of that, when they are not working or sleeping, they use the arts to relax! Therefore everone, everyday, uses these roots in art. The arts are truly around us everyday, they are part of our lives. In contrast, I’ve gone 30 years and still have not used one second of what I learned in Trigonometry class. Is it ignorance or pure evil that fill the minds of the adult humans that create a learning environment for our children. If it’s “ignorance”, I hope those responsible are reading, because I just TAUGHT YOU something; now, let’s move forward as humans that care about humanity. If it’s “pure evil” I’m too late, after all I’m only human.
